Dr Edna Mosher  pictured above as a young an older woman. Very confident and accomplished in the field of Science.

Edna Mosher is the eldest child of John Fulton Mosher and Margaret Desiah Harvie of Kempt, Nova Scotia. 

She lived in Kempt Shore and was heavily influenced by her parents and grandparents in her interest in natural science and horticulture. She loved the garden and it enabled her to observe and develop her interest into her lifes work. She never married.

Bayard Mosher born 1821 and died 4 February 1897 married Sarah Jane Galbraith (1820-1889)

Jehu Allen Mosher born 20 June 1797 Kempt Shore, Nova Scotia and died 6 April 1865 married Thamar Constantine.

Allen Mosher born 1758 Tiverton, Rhode Island, New England and died 1834, Kempt Shore, Nova Scotia, Canada. Allen came with his parents James and Lydia Mosher with siblings on the Sloop Sally in 1760, arriving in Avondale, Nova Scotia. Allen married Esther Wilcox (1763-1840).


​Esther gained a Bachelor of Science in 1908, a Master of Science in 1913 and was a renowned Canadian Entomologist and Lepidopterist. Her research on Lepidoptera Pupae remains very important work today. In 1914 Edna was awarded a fellowship that allowed her to work with the University of Illinois working on the Illinois Natural History Survey and this work in turn resulted awarded a doctoral dissertation. In 1915 she was awarded a Doctorate on her thesis, A Classification of the Lepidoptera based on characters of the pupae.
